Review: ELF Waterproof Lengthening & Volumizing Mascara

The ELF Lengthening & Volumzing Mascara is a part of ELF's Studio line. This product can be purchased online at www.eyeslipsface.com or at your local Target for $3. I have this mascara in Black, but they also carry it in Dark Brown.

^ Here is a close up of the wand. The bristles are synthetic and are shaped in a spiral pattern.

So, this product claims to be lengthening and volumizing. It does lengthen a little, but it doesn't really give my lashes that much volume. I have very thin lashes therefore I am always on the hunt for a mascara that will provide me with a good amount of volume, so this mascara kind of disappointed me on that aspect. The length it gives is okay (though I would prefer even more length!). Also, it claims to be waterproof. Most waterproof mascaras tend to hold your curl really well, but this mascara didn't do that. I find that by the end of the day the curl to my lashes just fall flat! Another thing to note is that this mascara does tend to smudge on me. Sometimes when I go to touch up my makeup I find that there are smudges on my lower lash line.

*Tip: When I wear this mascara, I always pair it up with another mascara. Lately, I've been using it with CoverGirl's Lash Blast Length in Brown. I would apply one coat of the Covergirl mascara on first, and then I top it off with one coat of the ELF mascara. I like the combination of the two mascaras together. It lengthens my lashes, and it also gives my lashes some volume at the roots. It also holds my curl pretty well.

Below are pictures of my lashes with the mascaras on. The very top picture is of my naked lashes. As you can see, my lashes are extremely fine and thin. You can barely see them at all! :( The middle picture is of my lashes with just the ELF mascara on. If you look closely, you can tell that it does lengthen a little, but there's not much volume added to it. The very bottom picture is of my lashes with both the ELF mascara and the CoverGirl mascara. My lashes look the longest here so the combination of the two mascaras did provide me with quite a bit of length. Also, it is a little bit of volume where the roots are.

Overall, I think the ELF Waterproof Lengthening & Volumizing Mascara is okay. I don't think that I would repurchase it though. I would much rather spend a few more bucks and invest in a mascara that will give me good length, good volume, and holds a good curl! Again, it is only $3 so it's really inexpensive. I would recommend this product to those who already have naturally curled, thick lashes. However, for me, this mascara didn't work out too well because my lashes are so thin.
